Buying a used car from PCC

The questions buyers ask us most, with straight answers.

The car

Are your used cars free from major accidents and flood damage?

Yes, we make sure our cars are free from major accidents and flood damage, and we tell you about any issue we know of. You're also welcome to arrange a professional inspection before you buy.

Can I inspect and test drive the car?

Yes. Make an appointment with our sales advisor to see and test drive the car at our 6 lots in Kepong, subject to the car being available and you having a valid driving licence.

Can I send the car for a pre-purchase inspection (PPI)?

Yes. A professional pre-purchase inspection can be arranged at your own cost, subject to our terms and conditions. Normal wear and tear and minor cosmetic issues are not grounds for a refund. We'll go through the inspection findings and refund conditions with you beforehand.

Do your cars come with a warranty?

Yes. Every car comes with a 12-month warranty on the engine, gearbox, ECU and ECM. Terms apply; we'll go through the exclusions and how to claim before you buy.

Loans and deposit

Can I apply for a car loan?

Yes. We help with your hire-purchase application through 7 banks and 8 credit companies. Approval depends on the lender's assessment of your income, credit record, commitments and documents.

Can I still apply if I'm blacklisted, under AKPK, or have high commitments?

Yes, you can still come to us. Approval depends on your financial profile, credit record and the lender's assessment. Our team will go through your situation with you and look at the financing options available, subject to the lender's approval.

How much deposit do I need?

That depends on the car price, how much the lender will finance and the lender's requirements. We'll explain exactly what you need to pay upfront before you go ahead.

Is the booking deposit refundable?

Yes. Your booking deposit is fully refunded if your car loan is rejected by all the banks and finance companies.

What documents do I need for a car loan?

IC and driving licence, 6 months of bank statements showing your salary, your latest payslip, EPF statement and income tax form. Send them to us and we apply for you.

How long can my loan be?

Up to 9 years. The older the car, the shorter the bank loan: roughly 15 minus the car's age, never less than 3 or more than 9 years. Credit companies accept older cars. Every car on our site shows its own limit, for example "Bank 7 yrs · Credit 9 yrs".

Bank or credit company: what's the difference?

Banks usually charge less but are stricter about the car's age and your credit record. Credit companies take older cars and more buyers, at a higher rate. Because we work with both, you can compare.

Is the monthly price on the website what I will pay?

It's an estimate: 10% down payment, a 2.8% flat bank rate and the car's longest bank loan. Your real instalment depends on what the lender approves.

Paperwork, insurance and collection

Who handles PUSPAKOM and the ownership transfer?

We do. Once your loan is approved, we handle the PUSPAKOM inspection and the JPJ ownership transfer, including the biometric thumbprint at our lot. You don't need to go to JPJ.

Are insurance and road tax included?

That depends on the quotation and package. We can arrange your insurance and explain the road tax and registration costs before delivery.

How long until I can collect the car?

That depends on loan approval, documents, settling any existing bank loan on the car, the inspection and the ownership transfer. We keep you updated on the expected collection date as each step is done.

Do outstanding summonses (saman) stop the transfer?

Yes. Outstanding JPJ, police and AES summonses on the car have to be settled before JPJ will transfer it.

Does comprehensive insurance cover floods?

Not automatically. In Malaysia flood is usually a "special perils" add-on to a comprehensive policy, so make sure it is on yours.

Selling your current car

Can you sell my current car for me?

Yes, on consignment. You agree the price with us and there is no fee, even if it doesn't sell. We wash, photograph and advertise it, and show it at our lots.

My current car still has a loan. Can I still sell it?

Yes. When your buyer's loan is approved, we arrange the thumbprint and settle your loan. If there is money left over, we pay you once the bank discharge (e-Batal) is complete.
