Before transferring car ownership in Malaysia, the vehicle must pass a PUSPAKOM B5 inspection (valid for 30 days). Both buyer and seller then complete biometric fingerprint identification on JPJ MySikap. 1. What PUSPAKOM Checks in the B5 Inspection
The Puspakom B5 inspection checks vehicle chassis number (VIN) authenticity, engine number integrity, cut-and-join chassis detection, window tint compliance (MS 266 standard), and roadworthiness.
Inspection validity is 30 days from the date of the issued VR5 report. If the vehicle fails due to dark tint or modified exhaust, the owner has to rectify it and return for a re-test.
2. Official JPJ Biometric Transfer Process
Once Puspakom B5 passes, the seller initiates the transfer on JPJ MySikap using biometric fingerprint identification. The buyer then has 7 days to complete their biometric verification and register the new road tax.
